ABOUT DR. AMANDA KELLOGG

Dr. Amanda Kellogg is the Director of Professional Development in James Madison University’s School of Professional and Continuing Education and the instructor for PhillyWine’s JMU satellite campus. When PhillyWine approached her about offering WSET courses to JMU students and community members in the Shenandoah Valley, she saw the incredible value the credential would bring and jumped at the chance to support. Since then, she has been committed to earning her WSET credentials, passing her WSET Level 2 course with distinction.

Amanda brings the rich contexts of her varied educational background (including an MBA in business analytics and a PhD in literature) to her study of wine, offering insights about word origin, marketing regulations, and the rhetoric of wine labels to her classes. In 2026, she launched a new project called Dr. Drinks, a series of workshops designed to introduce a focused wine-tasting skill or concept through a guided tasting and a brief lecture from a JMU faculty member. Through this and all her projects, Amanda seeks to bring people together to share their love of learning and their curiosity about wine.
